Sunfish, salmon, and the evolution of alternative reproductive strategies and tactics in fishes

The first section of this paper explains how alternative tactics and strategies may be evolutionarily stable within the same environment. The analysis shows that it is theoretically possible for precocial male phenotypes to enjoy fitness equal to late maturing males-long considered the only "normal" phenotype.
